Aquatics Supervisor-B
Exciting news! The City of Pasadena is looking for an Aquatics Supervisor to join our Aquatics team! Our newly constructed John J. Kennedy Pool located at Robinson Park Recreation Center is now offering Aquatics Programming year-round.
The ideal candidate will possess leadership skills to successfully supervise and control the safety and smooth operations of the year-round Aquatics program, ensure that aquatics staff provide great customer service, and be able to clearly communicate expectations and goals. This person must be Red Cross certified as a Lifeguarding Instructor, First Aid, and Water Safety Instructor. A Water Safety Instructor - Instructor Trainer is preferred. To be successful in this position, an individual must have great management skills and be able to collaborate with all staff to effectively deliver aquatics services to the community.
CERTIFICATIONS
Red cross certifications MUST be attached to the application at the time of submission to participate in this examination process.
WORK SCHEDULE
This is a full-time position working up to 40 hours per week. Facility hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Essential Functions:
1. Under direct supervision, the Aquatics Supervisor supervises pool facilities for the City of Pasadena which includes the supervision of staff; orders all necessary supplies for maintenance of pool facilities.
2. Instructs and evaluates aquatics staff in the observance of rules, regulations, and safety practices; oversees swimming operation and instruction at pool facilities.
3. Responds to and documents all safety accidents; administers first-aid where necessary.
4. Maintains and prepares payroll records of aquatics staff.
5. Develops and coordinates a variety of aquatics programs.
6. Oversees swimming instruction at various pool facilities.
7. Fills-in various aquatics positions as necessary.
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- One year of experience as a pool manager or other directly related supervisory experience, including one year of experience in developing, organizing, and conducting aquatics programs.
- Required American Red Cross Certifications: Lifeguarding Instructor, First Aid, & Water Safety Instructor
- Water Safety Instructor - Instructor Trainer is preferred.
- Experience with online recreation management systems, such as CivicRec is highly desirable.
SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process may consist of a training and experience evaluation, interview panel, and/or department-level interviews.

Candidates selected for this position are subject to a one year probationary work period.
Special Requirements:
Must possess a valid Class C California driver's license.
The City of Pasadena requires successful completion of a medical examination, including drug screen, and a criminal background live scan screen consistent with current state and federal law.
