Landscape Coordinator

Salary: $90,000-100,00

Description:

Position Summary:  Monitor and coordinate services provided to the Association through a contractual agreement with the community's landscape contractor to ensure that the contractor fulfills all contractual obligations and responds to requests in a timely and effective manner.  Assist the Greenbelt Committee with functions relative to polices established by the Board of Directors; act as liaison between the community and the Board and the landscape contractor. 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Work in cooperation with and monitor the performance of the landscape contractor as set forth under the terms of the contract(s) including work required at the natural garden.
  • Formulate recommendations for changes to existing landscape services that will result in increased efficiency and/or cost savings.
  • Work in cooperation with the Greenbelt Committee; attend meetings to coordinate the landscape operations between management, the contractor and the committee;
  • Assist in the public relation function required of management and the Greenbelt Committee; make suggestions for changes and/or additions to the landscape policies.
  • Assists the Committee in determining specifications and acquiring bids for all work outside the scope of the landscape contract; review and evaluate bids and makes recommendations to the Committee.
  • Oversee the operation of the Association's computerized irrigation control system.
  • Prepare reports and makes verbal presentations as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual landscape budget and performs monthly monitoring of expenditures, approval of expenses for payment, etc.
  • Review the community's common areas for potential landscape problem areas; brings to the attention of the landscape contractor and/or the Greenbelt Committee for solution/remedy.
  • Work in cooperation with the members of the Association and monitors the progress of work performed to complete approved alterations/modifications of the landscaped areas around the individually owned lots.
  • Assist the Greenbelt committee in the formulation and implementation of plans for all landscape improvement within the community.
  • Complete all escrow inspections requiring Greenbelt Committee approval and coordinate the resolution of any violations found during such inspections.
  • Refer all non-standard alterations/modifications to the Greenbelt Committee for review.
  • Maintain landscape violation list for the Greenbelt Committee.  Reports all violations to the Greenbelt Committee and follow-up on all violations through final disposition.
  • Respond to telephone calls regarding landscaping or violation letters.
  • Supervise Landscape Administrative Assistant
  • Work in cooperation with Arborist(s) to oversee tree trimming and removal programs.
  • Performs safety training for new employees and holds tailgate meetings for continuing training.
  • Investigate injuries or near misses and report to General Manager and Supervisor of Maintenance Services for possible action.
  • Maintain safety and maintenance logs as required by SB198 and CAL/OSHA and ensure that any unsafe practices and/or conditions are corrected.
  • Maintain a professional working environment with staff, Board of Directors, Landscape Committee members, Landscape Contractors and Vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including 24 hour emergency and weekend on call status.
  • Must be organized, very detail oriented, able to multi-task and prioritize in fast paced environment
  • Must have exceptional customer service skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong organization, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Ability to work under stress, with interruptions, and meet all deadlines
  • Ability to follow complex instructions
  • Knowledge and understanding of state and federal safety standards and procedures and the ability to implement programs to carry out the necessary requirements.
