The City of South Lake Tahoe is seeking a dynamic and community-focused Recreation Program Coordinator to join our Parks and Recreation Department. This is an exceptional opportunity to facilitate programming at our brand-new, state-of-the-art Recreation and Aquatics Center. 

We're looking for a motivated and experienced leader to help shape this dynamic facility into a vibrant hub for community connection, health, and recreation. The Recreation Program Coordinator for the City of South Lake Tahoe plans, organizes, and oversees a variety of recreation programs with a primary focus on youth and adult sports league programming. 

Under general supervision, this position coordinates the development, implementation, and evaluation of leagues, tournaments, clinics, and camps; manages schedules, registrations, staffing, facilities, and equipment; prepares and monitors program budgets; and ensures safe, inclusive, and well-organized operations. The coordinator supervises, part-time, and volunteer staff, works independently with minimal direction. This position provides administrative support and program assistance to the Recreation Supervisor, and collaborates with schools, community organizations, and partner agencies to enhance recreation opportunities for the community.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
 
Education/Training:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation, leisure studies, physical education, public administration, business administration, or related field is desired.
 
Bilingual skills (English and Spanish) are highly desirable.
 
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings, as need for programming and events.
 
License or Certificate:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California or Nevada driver's license.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, certificates in the following areas: CPR and advanced first aid.
 
Experience:
Two years of community service or recreation program coordination and implementation experience specific to park ranger programs, campground, golf course, aquatics or youth program operations.
