Pool Operations Technician

The City of Piedmont is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pool Operations Technician to help launch and maintain our state-of-the-art, all-electric Community Pool. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a new facility from the ground up-ensuring a safe, sparkling, and fully operational aquatic space for our community to enjoy.
This part-time role (approx. 30-34 hrs/week) offers competitive pay ($26.00-$33.19/hour), great benefits, and the chance to work in a dynamic environment with a team that values professionalism, safety, and community service. The most qualified candidates will be invited to an oral board interview scheduled for August 29, 2025.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of journey-level experience in pool maintenance or facility operations involving water chemistry, plumbing, or mechanical systems.
- Experience in commercial or municipal pool operations is strongly preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Must possess a valid California class C driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. The City of Piedmont monitors DMV record information over the course of employment.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO), or successful re-certification within 2 months of employment.
- Must possess or have the ability to attain First Aid and CPR/AED Certifications within 2 months of employment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must possess mobility to work in the field; strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium to heavy physical work, to work in confined spaces and around machines, to climb and descend ladders, to operate varied hand and power tools and construction equipment, and to operate a motor vehicle and visit various City sites; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. The job involves fieldwork requiring frequent walking in operational areas to identify problems or hazards. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate above-mentioned tools and equipment. Positions in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb to perform work and inspect work sites. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 100 pounds, or heavier weights with the use of proper equipment.
