Park Maintenance Supervisor
Under general supervision, supervises and assists crew members in the day to day routine repair of parks, parkways, landscaped corridors and medians, golf course, swimming pools and recreational facilities. This position is used throughout the Parks and Recreation Department and may be assigned to the Park Operations Division. Functions and responsibilities expected to be performed may vary by area of assignment. Incumbents may be assigned to a specialization including but not limited to Irrigation Specialist, or Inspector of contracted landscaping activities.
This positions may require candidates to work weekend shifts, holidays, and evening shifts.
Park Maintenance Supervisors in the Park Operations Division are represented by Teamsters Local #853.
Education and Training:
- Completion of thirty (30) units from an accredited college or university with major course work in business or public administration, contract management, horticulture practices, construction technology or other closely related field;
Certain assignments may require certifications. When specified, the certifications must be obtained by time of appointment and must be retained throughout employment as a condition of employment.
- Certification as a playground inspector, pesticide applicator, pool operator, or other closely related license or certificate is desirable.
Experience:
- Three (3) years of full-time experience performing the duties prescribed for the class of Sr. Park Maintenance Worker with the CSD; specialized assignments require two (2) of the three (3) years experience to include one or more of the following; performance of golf course maintenance and/or operations duties, irrigation installation and maintenance duties, or landscape contract administration duties;
Or
- Five (5) years of full-time experience in the construction, maintenance, and repair of landscapes, grounds, parks, pools, golf course or a specialized trade that can be directly related to the essential duties and responsibilities prescribed for the class of Park Maintenance Supervisor.
Special Requirements:
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain, First Aid and CPR/AED certification within the first thirty (30) days of employment; certification must be maintained through employment;
- Must possess a valid California class "C" driver's license, with a satisfactory driving record as determined by the District and maintain it throughout employment.
