Cache Creek Regional Campground Park Host
Yolo County Parks has an opening for an extra-help Camp Host at the Cache Creek Regional Park Campground. A minimum 12-month commitment is required, with opportunity to extend duration if mutually agreed upon. The regular days off are Monday at Noon to Wednesday at Noon.
The Position
The Cache Creek Regional Park Campground is located in the beautiful Capay Valley, just north of the town of Rumsey (1475 Highway 16, Rumsey, CA 95679). The campground has 45 individual camp sites, 4 large group camp sites, 2 permanent restroom buildings, large turf area, playground, picnic areas, office and several outbuildings, and provides pedestrian access to Cache Creek. The camping season is generally early April through Mid-November. The campground is closed to the public during the off-season (October through October).
The Camp Host receives a stipend equivalent to $823 per month. The Camp Host is required to live on site and be present over the weekend but is provided with two days that they are not required to be on site during the week. Camp Host days off will be coordinated with management upon hire.
Camp Host is provided with RV/trailer site and utility hook ups and services at no cost. Camp Host RV/trailer must be in good working order. The Camp Host area includes a paved pad (approximately 12’ x 45’) with a large carport shelter adjacent to a private lawn. Utility hook ups include electricity, sewage connections, propane, and potable water. Limited satellite internet service and office phone is provided. Cell phone service is not currently available at the campground, but Camp Host is required to have a working cell phone available at all times using wifi-calling.
County Parks maintenance staff are onsite most weekdays during the camping season to complete landscape and maintenance tasks.
Pets are allowed within the park host area but must be kept on a leash or owner provided kennel, at all times. Proof of current vaccinations and license is required. The park host is responsible for cleaning up after their pets at all times.
Will need to pass a background check and clear a drug test.
An example of the duties of a Park Host are as follows:
- Greeting park visitors and orienting them to the park and region;
- Explaining park rules and regulations;
- Checking in and checking out campers using online reservation system;
- Cleaning and maintenance of restrooms and shower facility;
- Collecting visitor fees and selling firewood and shower tokens;
- Inspecting campsites after visitors leave, picking up trash, and cleaning fire rings;
- Light landscaping and grounds maintenance;
- Light maintenance on generators, monitoring fuel levels on propane tanks, and sampling and logging of chlorine levels;
- Conduct occasional patrols of the nearby Cache Creek Regional Park Upper Site and Lower Site parks;
- Coordination with fire and police as needed; and
- Other projects or assignments based on park needs and hosts' skills and interests.
