Recreation Leader / Senior Recreation Leader (PT)

JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Under immediate supervision, the Recreation Leader or Senior Recreation Leader assists in the implementation of the Kids Zone Program for our Before School, After School, Off-Track, and Camp sessions for students in kindergarten through 6th grade, and performs related duties as assigned.
- Supervises and engages up to 20 students in a group setting.
- Utilizes proactive attention-getters and positive reinforcement strategies to maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
- Leads daily homework assistance sessions and facilitates hands-on activities, including but not limited to STEM projects, arts and crafts, and physical education games.
- Serves as a positive role model, teaching students the fundamentals of sportsmanship, social-emotional skills, and safety.
- Maintains basic record-keeping and processes daily attendance.
- Assists in the daily setup and teardown of program activities. This includes maintaining a clean, organized, and professional site by performing basic maintenance, such as wiping tables, organizing equipment, and sweeping.
- Observes and complies with all District and mandated safety rules, regulations, and protocols.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Recreation Leader
- Provides recreation program information in person or by email / phone; explains programs and describes special events; distributes marketing materials; accepts registrations and enrollments; processes payments.
- Supervises, organizes, and conducts recreation and educational programs for participants of all ages; assists volunteers in leading recreational activities or assignments.
Senior Recreation Leader
- Operates the program or center in the absence of professional staff; supervises staff and volunteers; provides training in leading recreational activities; addresses conflicts and issues; makes decisions within policy and procedure; escalates concerns as needed; performs facility inspections and ensures cleanliness.
- Supervises, organizes, and conducts recreation and educational programs for participants of all ages; follows a structured curriculum and facilitates daily recreational and enrichment activities; assists volunteers in leading recreational activities or assignments.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
- Recreation Leader: Prior experience in education, recreation, or a related field.
- Senior Recreation Leader: Two (2) years of experience of increasing responsibility in education, recreation, or a related field.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
- Possession of a valid California Class “C” Driver’s License, to be maintained throughout employment.
- Possession of, or successful acquisition within twelve (12) months of appointment, valid CPR/First Aid/AED Certifications, to be maintained throughout employment.
