Recreation Leader II
Organizes, promotes, conducts, and supervises a variety of recreational programs and activities, for mature adults age 50 and up. Performing any other related duties as required.
This class is distinguished from a Recreation Leader I by its responsibility for higher level recreation program work, including the organization and instruction of various programs and activities, and providing lead direction to others.
Example of Duties:
Supervises Senior Center Lobby
Interact with senior community in the center
Plan, promote, conduct, and supervise programs for the senior center, for example, dances, mixers, crafts, game shows, holiday programs, and pool tournaments
Lead activities and classes
Develop fliers to promote programming
Tour escort on Senior Center excursions
Community Outreach
Set up and Breakdown of rooms
Assist with nutrition program
Register seniors for activities, collect, and account money received, and prepare reports
Ensures patrons are following Senior Center Rules, and that equipment is used in a safe, and proper, manner
Driving to pick up supplies, or mail
Administer First Aid
Assist in maintaining facility by performing light custodial maintenance
Other duties as assigned
Ability to:
Follow directions
Communicate effectively orally and in writing
Establish and maintain positive work relationships with fellow staff, supervisors, participants, instructors, and the public
Be Creative
Develop, coordinate, and lead programs and activities for the senior population
Supervise activities, programs, and volunteers
Speak one of the following languages is desirable: Spanish, Tagalog, Korean
Education:
Any education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary.
