Under the direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and Parks and Recreation Superintendent. The Recreation Coordinator performs a wide variety of duties at the Yorba Linda Community Center. Major responsibilities include assisting with facility management and supervision of rentals at the Community Center. Duties will include monitoring facility rental contracts, coordinating logistics for rentals, overseeing maintenance of supplies and equipment, scheduling and supervising over twenty part-time staff, and planning and conducting city-wide special events and family programs. The City operates on a “9/80” work schedule. The candidate for this position must be able to work afternoons, weekends, evenings and July 4. The anticipated schedule for this position, which is subject to change based on program needs, is Tuesday through Saturday afternoons and evenings (11:00a.m.-9:00p.m.), with Tuesday the 9/80.

Qualifications:

Applicant must be over eighteen (18) years of age. A Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation or closely related field is required. In addition, a candidate must have a minimum of two years experience in a paid recreation position, or, in the absence of two-year’s experience, an equivalent combination of additional education and experience. Completion of certified CPR and first aid training must be completed and maintained throughout employment.  Valid State of California Operator's License.

The physical tasks of this position include, but are not limited to, the ability to sit at a computer work station, stand, walk, jog, climb, reach, lean, twist, grasp, bend, kneel, lifting objects an average of 20-40 pounds, and pushing and pulling carts with a force of up to 60pounds can each be for sustained periods of time from one to four hours. Lifting includes program equipment such as tables, chairs, portable speakers, and boxes and is performed according to Cal OSHA Standards. Each physical task occurs in variations throughout the day. Environmental conditions include, but are not limited to commercial buildings, residential homes, an indoor office and the ability to work extended periods of time outdoors, and be exposed to sun and varying temperatures, as programs deem necessary.
