Deputy Director of Community Services

The Deputy Director of Community Services is a key member of the community services leadership team and will shape Irvine’s future by providing exceptional service, innovative programs, and diverse cultural experiences for all City residents.
The Deputy Director provides oversight of events and community service programs including athletics, aquatics, senior services, fine arts, youth and family services, community parks and recreation, animal care services, disability services and transportation, facility reservations, and contract classes.
The ideal candidate for this role will be a confident leader, possessing an established foundation in municipal park and recreation services. The Deputy Director must possess the ability to advance key department procedures and manage across a variety of park, recreational, and service operations in a fiscally responsible manner. The ideal candidate will manage various levels of staff and foster collaboration in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The appointed Deputy Director will possess exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, parks/recreation administration, human services or related field.
- Eight years of increasingly responsible experience in managing a broad range of recreation and social service programs, and parks planning and development, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Master’s degree in public administration or parks/recreation administration highly desirable.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license.
