General Summary: Provides highly responsible management support in the planning, analysis, coordination, and conduct of operating programs and activities; supervises assigned staff; and performs administrative studies and special projects.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop programming direction that supports the Missions of four unique museum brands and the City of Lancaster’s public art program
- Develop an annual cohesive exhibition schedule that includes educational, engagement and marketing plan that considers rental and other outside events
- Meet with artists, writers, quest curators and other contributors to curate exhibitions, books, tours, workshops and other engagement opportunities
- Update and maintain professional museum standards and practices through SOPs and division guidelines
- Recommend artists for the public art program
- Supervise staff and volunteers that execute the programming while encouraging an organizational culture characterized by effective management and inspiration to Arts’ staff, volunteers and LMPAF Board
- Conduct monthly staff meetings by departments
- Maintain sound financial practices and manage four museums in a fiscally responsible manner within the Council approved budget and with funds made available from grants, other non-profit funders and LMPAF
- Create and track budget and expenditures for each project
- Identify appropriate grants and other funders
- Write grants that support Museum missions and strategic plans
- Lead the implementation of the City of Lancaster’s Public Art Master Plan by maintaining productive relationships with other arts and culture organizations, non-profit organizations, Los Angeles County Supervisor’s office, Los Angeles County Arts and Culture Department, California Arts Council and the American Alliance of Museums
- Assist in planning, organizing, coordinating and managing the City Public Art Program and implementing the adopted Public Art Master Plan. These duties include but are not limited to:
- Develop and coordinate Call for artists/RFPs.
- Develop agreements/contracts.
- Project manager of public art project installations
- Manage addition of public art into City GIS and assessment management system.
- Monitor and coordinate maintenance of public art.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Fine Arts, Art History, Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field.
- Master’s Degree Desired.
- Five (5) years of experience with some supervisory experience.
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience.
