Recreation Coordinator

What We Do
The Community Services Department provides exceptional cultural, educational, recreational, and social services to enhance and maintain a high quality of life and attractive physical environment in the Beverly Hills community. The Recreation and Parks Division is responsible for researching, implementing, and evaluating a variety of services and programs for the community with the purpose of enhancing each participant's quality of life. The Division also manages the Joint Powers Agreement with the Beverly Hills Unified School District and operates the historic Greystone Mansion and Estate. Through collaborative effort across multiple City sites, the Recreation and Parks Division serves as a destination for educational, recreational, and cultural endeavors for all ages and provide diverse and innovative recreation and cultural programming and services for the Beverly Hills community.
Who We're Looking For
The Community Services Department is hiring two Recreation Coordinators who are energetic, adaptable, and team-oriented and who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality youth and community programming. This role serves as the on-site lead, providing direct oversight of part-time, seasonal, and afterschool staff. You’ll lead team meetings and trainings, ensure enrichment program plans and materials are prepared, and support staff in delivering engaging activities. As the on-site liaison of City programming, you will communicate regularly to the school administration. You will also be the liaison for vendors, evaluate classes, address issues, and report incidents to a supervisor or manager.
Strong organizational and communication skills are essential, as you’ll maintain accurate attendance records for camps, classes, and contract vendors. During the school year, you’ll be desk-based at a school site; in the summer, you’ll work at school or community center locations supporting youth summer programs and special events. If you're someone who takes initiative, excels in dynamic, high-energy environments, communicates clearly, and enjoys collaborating with a passionate team, we’d love to meet you. Experience in municipal or nonprofit recreation, children's and youth programming, and leading projects to completion is a plus. Work Schedule
All work will be performed on-site at Beverly Hills USD campuses and City of Beverly Hills Community Centers, Monday to Friday, 10am to 7pm. This is a non-teleworking position. Additionally, depending on program needs, incumbents may be assigned to work at various recreation and facilities throughout the city and may be required to work evenings and weekends.

Salary and Benefits
$64,290.33 - $79,645.65 Annually
This position is represented by the Municipal Employees Association, Technical Services and is covered by the negotiated terms and conditions of that Association's Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Public Administration or a related field. One year of experience in the implementation of recreational programs or activities, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses and Certifications
Possession of a valid California Driver's License.
