Administrative Analyst

Under general direction, Administrative Analysts independently perform a wide variety of administrative functions, including conducting special studies and analyses of various operations and procedures. Incumbents in this position conduct extensive research on program and legislative issues, handle department or program budgets, and make recommendations on City procedures and policies.
The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills; effective presentation skills; and excellent oral and written communication abilities. They work collaboratively in a team environment, interact professionally and diplomatically with executives, and demonstrate an exceptional ability to build relationships and provide high-quality customer service.
There is currently one (1) full-time Administrative Analyst vacancy within the Community Services Department. We anticipate creating an eligibility list from this recruitment that may be used to fill current and future vacancies, so apply now!
Essential Duties:
- Compiles statistical and financial data for various reports;
- Conducts special surveys including gathering data from other communities on their operations;
- Monitors, analyzes, and reports on regional, county, state, and national issues with potential City impacts;
- Conducts studies and makes recommendations on a wide variety of City operations and procedures;
- Makes recommendations on how to resolve problems and improve efficiency;
- Interprets and implements management policies or operating procedures;
- Carries out major assignments in conducting the operations of the City;
- Provides consultation or expert advice to management;
- Assists in planning long or short-term business objectives;
- Prepares forms and other administrative devices to improve procedures and operations;
- Prepares procedural manuals, correspondence for signatures, and special reports on studies conducted;
- Conducts various long-range planning studies including gathering necessary data and making recommendations;
- Answers public inquiries regarding procedures, operations and regulations;
- May attend staff, council or commission meetings;
- Coordinates activities with other departments, outside agencies and organizations;
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor's degree with major coursework in public administration, business administration, political science, recreation or a related field and one (1) year of professional experience in public administration or a related field is required.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Basic principles and methods of public administration; statistical and research methods; administrative survey techniques; computer applications including word processing and spreadsheets; customer service techniques and principles; program administration; creating and maintaining well-organized confidential files and records.
ABILITY TO:
Perform technical research and data analysis, make sound decisions, and present findings clearly; prepare clear and comprehensive reports and maintain accurate records; build and maintain effective working relationships; communicate clearly both orally and in writing; and provide responsive, empathetic customer service to diverse clients.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
A valid California Class "C" driver's license is highly desirable.
