Community Services Coordinator
The City of Menifee's Community Services Department is seeking energetic, motivated candidates with a positive attitude and helpful disposition. The Community Services Coordinator is an integral position to the department who is committed to supporting the community with a healthy and fun environment.
We enhance residents' quality of life by delivering quality programs, services, and facilities that create lasting positive memories for youth, adults and seniors throughout the community.
Under general supervision, assists in the coordination and implementation of recreation, leisure and educational programs within the Community Services Department; assists with the selection and training of volunteers and part-time staff; organizes special events and activities; and performs related work as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from the Community Services Supervisor and Department Manager. Exercises general supervision over volunteers, part-time and seasonal staff.
This is a journey level classification in the professional Community Services series that performs responsible recreation activity supervision involving planning and conducting activities in program areas such as sports, arts and crafts, dance, outdoor education, special events or other activities related to assignment. Incumbents are expected to perform duties mentioned in the definition with an emphasis on actively organizing and directing recreation programs within established schedules, standards and policies, as well as using independent judgment in dealing with program or customer service problems. This class is distinguished from the Community Services Supervisor in that the latter has supervisory responsibility for programs and subordinate staff of the Community Services Department.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in recreation, public administration or a closely related field and two (2) years of paid experience in the development and implementation of Recreation, Community Services or Parks programs. An equivalent combination of experience and education sufficient to perform the essential job functions and provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver's License by time of appointment.
- CPR/First Aid Certification by time of appointment.
A City application and supplemental questionnaire must be submitted and received by June 20, 2021 @ 11:59 pm. Candidates must clearly demonstrate through their application materials that they meet the employment standards outlined above. All properly completed applications will be reviewed, and the most appropriately qualified individuals will be invited to continue in the selection process. Examinations for the position may consist of any combination of written, performance, and oral exams to evaluate the applicant's skill, training, and experience for the position. Successful applicants will be placed on an eligibility list.
