Hours are Mon-Fri with occasional schedule changes for weekend or evening work to manage events.

You will plan, implement, and administer youth, adult, and community service programs and activities. This includes assigning and overseeing staff to ensure safe and well-managed recreation and community service programs including youth and adult sports, leisure classes, special events, youth camps, and other related City programs. You will also assist with the management of the City's recreation facilities, and provide assistance with marketing and promotion of these and other programs. These positions are not overtime exempt. The City has the discretion to make occasional adjustments of the work week, work day, or hours for these positions to serve the interest of the City's operation and mission.
Recreation Coordinator I:
This is an entry-level class in the professional Recreation Coordinator series. This class is distinguished from the Recreation Coordinator II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within the series and employees at this level require more supervision and training. The Recreation Coordinator I receives direction from the department director, division manager, or assigned supervisor.
Recreation Coordinator II
: This is a journey-level class in the professional Recreation Coordinator series and is distinguished from the Recreation Coordinator I by additional experience and the performance of a wider range of duties as assigned. Employees at this level require less supervision and have the ability to act more independently. They receive direction from the department director, division manager, or assigned supervisor. The Recreation Coordinator II does exercise functional and technical supervision over recreation and clerical staff and volunteers, administers contracts, and monitors performance.

Qualifications:

Experience:
Recreation Coordinator I:
One year of increasingly responsible experience in recreation.
Recreation Coordinator II:
Two years of increasingly responsible experience in recreation, including one year of lead worker responsibility.
Training:
Equivalent to an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation, physical education, leisure studies, sociology, communications, or a related field.
License or Certificate:
Possession of or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver's license.
Possession of or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid CPR and basic first aid certificate.
