Recreation Leader II
The City of Norwalk is looking for highly motivated, team oriented individuals to join our Senior Center Team. This is a part-time hourly position, 25-30 hours per week, that works directly under the Supervisor, and Recreation Leader III staff, and will perform a variety of duties for mature adults age 50 and older.
Duties include:
- Supervises Senior Center Lobby and interact with senior community in the center.
- Plan, promote, conduct, and supervise a variety of recreational programs for the senior center, such as, dances, mixers, crafts, game shows, holiday programs, and pool tournaments
- Lead activities and classes
- Develop fliers to promote programming
- Tour escort on Senior Center excursions
- Community Outreach
- Set up and Breakdown of rooms
- Assist with nutrition program
- Register seniors for activities, collect, and account money received, and prepare reports
- Ensures patrons are following Senior Center Rules, and that equipment is used in a safe, and proper, manner
- Administer First Aid
- Assist in maintaining facility by performing light custodial maintenance
- Performing any other related duties as required.

Ability to: develop, coordinate, be creative, and direct varied activities involved in a community recreation program; supervise and monitor games and team activities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, participants, instructors and the general public; communicate effectively orally and in writing; plan and supervise the work of paid staff and volunteers.
Ability to speak Spanish, Tagalog, or Korean are highly desirable.
Education and/or Experience
Any combination of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary. Example combinations include:
One year experience, paid or volunteer, as a leader in a recreational activity which included cashier and recordkeeping duties.
