RECREATION PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Successful candidates will possess exceptional communication skills, knowledge of sports and recreation activities, group dynamics, and the ability to lead high-functioning teams of full-time, part-time, and volunteers in the delivery of recreation services to our community.
Under general supervision from the Recreation Supervisor classification, the Recreation Program Coordinator provides, organizes, coordinates, implements, and evaluates a variety of recreation programs, which can include community center programs, youth and adult sports programs, aquatics, and/or community programs and events. A typical work schedule for this position is Monday - Friday or Tuesday - Saturday and candidates must remain flexible to accommodate evening and weekend program supervision.
Incumbents in this position are included in the Civil Service System and are in a "for-cause" employment status represented by the Stockton City Employees' Association Bargaining Unit. (Classified/Represented)
Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation, public or business administration, or a closely related field.
Experience: One year of experience which has included recreation program planning and implementation and/or recreation facility supervision.
Additional years of experience in a position comparable to the Recreation Program Coordinator with the City of Stockton in areas such as recreation programs, aquatics, performing arts, athletics, arts and crafts activities, dance and drama programs, and/or recreation facilities management may be substituted for the education requirement on a year for year basis.
Bachelor’s degree (4 years)- 1 year of experience
90 semester units (3 years)- 2 years of experience
Associate degree/60 units (2 years)- 3 years of experience
30 semester units (1 year)- 4 years of experience
High School Diploma/GED- 5 years of experience
