JOB DEFINITION:  Under general supervision, will be responsible for the safety of patrons in the summer aquatics program.  Will oversee the daily on-site management of the summer aquatic program at Walnut High School.

DUTIES:

• Responsible for staff supervision and facility operation including life guarding, lesson instructions, and staff training in first aid techniques (including, but not limited to CPR, water rescues, and emergency procedures).
• Maintain a safe environment for pool patrons.
• Ensures department policies are followed; enforces the rules and regulations of the pool
• Provide training for staff in all facets of aquatic operations.
• Assist with planning, coordinating and implementing a variety of aquatic activities and programs.
• Supervises daily facility maintenance.
• Interact with co-workers at all levels of the City and the public in a collaborative and customer service-oriented manner; exercise tact and judgment when resolving problems.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

A combination of knowledge and experience including High School equivalency and some college level classes and a minimum of two years of experience in aquatics instruction including supervisory experience.
 

License and Certificates:  Must possess or have the ability to obtain prior to employment:

CA Driver’s License

American Red Cross First Aid and CPR Certificate for Professional Rescuer

American Red Cross Title 22

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
