Administrative Analyst I
About the Position
The current opening is in the City Manager's Office and reports to the Assistant City Manager. The Administrative Analyst is responsible for a variety of community engagement programs and events, serves as the staff liaison to one or more assigned commissions, and performs analytical duties.
Under general supervision, the Analyst performs varied analytical, administrative, and operational support for the City Manager’s Office. This position is responsible for conducting research, analyzing policies and procedures, preparing reports, researching grants, and supporting department projects and initiatives. The Analyst works closely with department leadership, other city departments, and external stakeholders to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in local government operations. Whether tackling high-level policy analysis or handling day-to-day administrative tasks, no job is too small. This position requires adaptability, attention to detail, and a commitment to improving public service delivery while working with the public and City staff in a fast-paced setting with tact, discretion, and professionalism.

City offices operate on a 9/80 schedule: Monday-Thursday for 9 hours, 8 hours one Friday, off/closed the other Friday. This position is located at City Hall, 13777 Fruitvale Avenue; operational hours are 7:30 am-5:00 pm.
Experience and Education
The position requires the equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration, event planning, public administration, finance, accounting, or a related field, and at least one (1) year of responsible administrative experience in municipal government. Possession of a valid California Driver’s License upon appointment is required.
The ideal candidate will have related experience suited to a small city, and the ability to work in a fast-paced setting with professionalism and collaboration. The successful candidate should exhibit technical acumen, strong organizational skills, excel at managing multiple ongoing programs, processes, and requests, possess outstanding oral and written communication skills with a keen attention to detail, and can provide superior customer service. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, as well as the ability to develop strong working relationships and assist others in achieving their business goals is essential. Understanding of local government structure, operations, and regulations is preferred.
