Park Attendant (Part-Time)

GENERAL PURPOSE

The Park Attendant provides assistance to residents and the general public at Lacy Park during weekends, special events, and holidays.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Park Attendant performs work under the supervision of the Division Manager or Recreation Coordinator. This position works Saturdays and Sundays.

This position is part-time and "At-Will," which means the Park Attendant serves at the will of the City Manager and may be removed at any time without cause, notice, or right of appeal.

Duties:

  • Ensures the sale of tickets for entrance to Lacy Park; assists residents and general public with questions and guidance to areas within the park.
  • Ensures that special, organized events held at Lacy Park are properly conducted.
  • Ensures all organized activities in the park are permitted.
  • provide excellent customer service to park visitors.
  • Inspect and report all park signage for accurate information.
  • Keep sales kiosk clean, presentable and organized.
  • Inform the supervisor of any areas of concern.
Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of

  • General arithmetic computations and basic mathematical skills.
  • Reading and comprehension.

Skills/Abilities

  • Work under inclement weather.
  • Read and interpret City rules and regulations; make mathematical computations rapidly and accurately; work with minimum supervision.
  • Stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; lift up to 15 pounds; get from one location to another in the course of doing business, including climbing stairs.
  • Respond to the public's and staff's requests for assistance.
  • Provide excellent customer service.

Education and Experience:

Any combination equivalent to the education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying.  A typical way to gain such knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:

  • No prior experience necessary.

Education:

  • Graduation from High School (or substitution of G.E.D. or California Proficiency Certification).

Licenses:

  • Possession of a valid California Class "C" Driver's license.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  Employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch.  Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  Employee is regularly required to talk or listen, in person and by telephone.  Intermittently, twist to reach equipment; perform simple grasping and fine manipulation; write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means.

Employee generally works 90%indoors and 10% outdoors.  The work environment indoors is usually in a temperature-controlled booth. While performing the duties of this job outdoors, the employee occasionally works in varying weather conditions.  Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
