Recreation Specialist - Teen Programming
The City of Chino Hills is currently seeking a Senior Recreation Leader to join the team at Grand Avenue Park. This role not only offers a great opportunity to make a positive impact in our community but also provides a platform for personal and professional growth within the City.
As a Senior Recreation Leader, you will independently perform a variety of complex recreational tasks independently under the direct supervision of a Community Services Coordinator. Responsibilities include assisting with sports programs such as adult and youth sports, facility supervision, and minor administrative duties. At times, the role will involve limited staff supervision.
We're looking for individuals who are responsible, safety-conscious, and have a knack for excellent customer service. Your friendly demeanor and passion for community engagement and sports programming will be essential as you contribute to the positive atmosphere in the Community Services department.
This year-round position offers a varied work schedule based on the assigned shifts, typically Monday - Sunday. Weekends shifts are assigned with occasional holiday shifts, working up to 29 hours per week.

Some of the essential duties you may be responsible for:

- Provide excellent customer service to the public.
- Lead and supervise group activities and programs such as indoor/outdoor games, sports and other related activities.
- Must demonstrate strong organization and leadership skills
- Maintain and prepare sports fields.
- Assist in the opening and closing of City facilities; ensure facilities are secure upon closing.
- Ensure the smooth operation of recreational activities and programs.
- Train and provide leadership to new and lower-level staff.
- Address daily issues and concerns that may arise at Grand Avenue Park.
- Collaborate and interact with co-workers at all levels of the City to help maintain a positive atmosphere.
- Uphold safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Respond to the public, answer inquiries and give information pertaining to programs that are offered.
- Deal firmly and tactfully with participants; exercise tact and judgment when resolving problems.
- This position may perform other related duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:
This position requires a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a recreation or closely related field, whether paid or volunteer. Please ensure you clearly indicate this experience on your application.

EDUCATION:
Equivalent to completion of the High School or GED.
LICENSE:
Possession of a California Class C Driver’s License.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION:
First Aid/CPR and AED Certification for Infants/Adults completed through or acknowledged by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
